Advocating Resource Efficiency and Use of Sustainable Construction Materials.
Founded in 2010, the Asian Coal Ash Association (“AsianCAA”) is a not-for-profit industry association, registered in Australia with offices in China and India. Our mission is to promote beneficial management, application and distribution of coal combustion products (CCPs) as value-adding sustainable construction materials.
AsianCAA advocates beneficial use of CCPs to build sustainable cities, conserve land and natural resources, mitigate climate change and support the circular economy in line with the Sustainable Development Goals of the United Nations.
To support its mission, AsianCAA brings together leaders from the industry, academia, governments, NGOs and other stakeholders to work towards beneficial use of CCPs in Asia to reduce embodied carbon emissions. Our singular goal is conservation of the environment for our future generations.
Our members and broader community include industry and academic leaders in the field of coal combustion products (fly ash and bottom ash), boiler slag, flue gas desulfurization gypsum (synthetic gypsum), scrubber materials, cenospheres, value added construction materials and building products as well as geotechnical engineering.
From Asia to the World.
For nearly 100 years, coal combustion products have been used to increase performance and environmental sustainability in the construction industry. CCPs reduce the need for mining and quarrying of natural resources, reduce embodied carbon emissions and carbon footprint, while increasing strength and durability of buildings and infrastructure.
With coal-fired thermal power plants winding down in the Western world due to environmental and economic reasons, coal ash generation is diminishing, leading to a demand-supply gap.
Asia produces more than 850 million tons of coal combustion products every year. AsianCAA is committed to promoting beneficial utilisation of coal combustion products by facilitating development of international trade and related technologies from Asia. AsianCAA partners with industry leaders and other international associations, actively contributing to events, initiatives, international trade and research.

Operating Framework
Constitution
AsianCAA is operated as per its constitution A.C.N. 147 031 230. The objective of AsianCAA is to promote the mutual interests of its members and to encourage the use of sustainable construction materials such as coal combustion products and other industrial by-products. As a Trade Association, AsianCAA provides a vehicle for members to network, engage with government/ policy makers as well as share knowledge and resources with the global community. AsianCAA follows global standards of corporate governance, with independent auditors and adherence to all compliances.
Board of Directors
AsianCAA is led by a Board of Directors. The Directors in turn elect a Chairman from amongst themselves to lead the planning and development of the Association, as well as all events, initiatives and business support services.
Secretariat
The Board has appointed a Secretary General which has formed a Secretariat to carry out the daily work of the Association. The current Secretary General is Madame Wu Xiao Huan and the Secretariat is housed on the campus of the China Building Materials Academy in Beijing, China.
Technical Advisory Committee
The Board and Secretary General nominate individuals for consideration as members of the Technical Advisory Committee. The Technical Advisory Committee advises the Secretary General and the Board of Directors on content for events and publication, direction for Association research and may provide technical insight and guidance for Association members.
