18th Coaltrans India 2019
Updated: Jul 23, 2020
18-20 February 2019 - New Delhi, India -
Coaltrans India is a well-established conference that has been running for 18 years. The conference draws 600+ key decision makers from India and beyond for three days of networking, knowledge-sharing, and deal-making.
The Indian coal sector has evolved over the last few years from a net exporter to a net importer. Demand for coal-fired power has increased with population growth and increased rates of electrification in India. The Indian government is supporting Coal India to increase production but there is still a gap in the market with demand for international coal. The biggest increases in imports are of Indonesian and US coal.
As India is relatively new to imports the impact is still being seen. It has put a strain on infrastructure at ports and railways which need upgrading. It has opened up a market for international shippers and traders and service providers.
David Harris and Rishit Dalal from AsianCAA conducted a presentation and panel discussion on "Coal Ash Industry and Utilization in India" as part of the Coaltrans conference.
